– Developing management plans to support Green Flag programmes, or simply to improve the quality and sustainability of green space care and maintenance.

– Developing projects which will conserve natural and historic environments, bringing cherished green spaces closer to the public.

Project: Wansted Park regeneration project
Date: September 2010 - April 2011
Client: City of London Open Spaces – Epping Forest
Scope: As Project Manager, leading the procurement of consultants to produce a Conservation Statement (CS) for the historic parkland, including extensive stakeholder engagement and consultation.
Team: THE NEXT FIELD – Peter Wilkinson
Outcomes: Conservation Statement produced on programme and to budget by end of March 2011.

Project: Epping Forest Grazing Contract
Date: January – May 2011
Client: City of London Open Spaces – Epping Forest
Scope: As Project Manager, leading the procurement process to appoint a new grazier for parts of Epping Forest and its Buffer Lands.
Team: THE NEXT FIELD – Peter Wilkinson
Outcomes: Appointment of interim grazier, following no appointment to longer-term contract. Agreement on revised procurement strategy, with effect from September 2011 onwards.

Project: Green Flag assessments
Date: May 2010
Client: North Somerset Council – Streets and Open Spaces
Scope: Two site assessments for Watchhouse Hill (Pill) and Jubilee Park (Weston-super-Mare), and reports to guide council and community groups on actions required to secure the Green Flag award.
Team: THE NEXT FIELD – Peter Wilkinson
Outcomes: Both green spaces secured Green Flag status for the first time in summer 2010.

Project: Review of open space strategies
Date: May 2010
Client: CABE Enabling Team
Scope: Assessing the impact of completed Open Space Strategies on financial resources, strategic planning, quality, partnership, capacity and skills.
Team: Peter Wilkinson leading on green space related research, with other CABE Enablers leading on planning and performance frameworks.
Outcomes: Report produced by CABE Space clearly demonstrating the benefits of Green/Open Space Strategies, for presentation to CLG and used as advocacy with those councils yet to complete their strategy. Two one-day workshops held for the authorities taking part in research.

Project: Historic estates lottery programme
Date: 2000 – 2009
Client: Programme delivered when Peter Wilkinson was working for Bristol City Council. Role in programme – Programme Director
Scope: £18m investment programme covering three historic estates – Ashton Court, Blaise Castle and Arnos Vale Cemetery with generous grant aid support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Team: Project teams consisting of Bristol City Council officers, consultants and community organisations.
Outcomes: Transformation of three historic green spaces with regenerated infrastructure, new visitor facilities, improved biodiversity and higher standards of management and maintenance. Increased financial turnover and visitor numbers.
